During August 2015, one of our directors Paul Stubbs met up with the charity ‘Refocus Project‘ and kindly donated £3,000 to their ongoing efforts of re-educating young individuals who find themselves in difficult situations from a young age.
Refocus was initiated by Lennox Rodgers in 2005, when he approached local gangs and was able to have open discussions with them. This has now expanded to 9 team members who are able to enrich the lives of young people and steer them away from the criminal justice system.
How Refocus Operates
Refocus aims to train and support ex offenders, who have made the conscientious decision to give back to their community, thereby aiming to break the cycle of repeat offending.
They conduct workshops, that are geared towards exploring how young minds work and the behaviour that has led individuals to social problems and eventually crime.
In conjunction with the workshops they run 3-6 week programmes that are designed to find their natural patterns and then identify and harming or potential negative behaviour characteristics and ask them to question that behavioural trait.
There are a number of topics that are covered that help train future carers, including alcohol awareness, substance misuse, addictions and attachment issues that young people might come across in the family.
Between 2006 and 2013 over 9500 young in people were helped and of those three quarters have made conscience decisions now reconsider their behaviour around crime and any negative behaviour that is associated with bullying, knife crime, and drugs.
We are proud sponsors and will donate £1 for every car that we buy to this charity.
