The British car manufacturing company, MG, was established in 1920 by Cecil Kimber as part of a sideline sales promotion. MG’s quickly became known for their classy, open top, two-seater sports vehicles, however, they have released just as admirable saloons and coupes. Cecil Kimber was an employee of William Morris and it is rumoured that the name of the company stems from the abbreviation of Morris Garages.
The company has had a checkered history, undergoing numerous ownership changes and several re-brands. Most recently, the MG Rover group went into administration in 2005 with the bail-out this time coming from China based company, Nanjing Automobile Group. Despite their less than perfect company background, MG has continued to produce quality automobiles. The latest addition to their series released in June 2011, was the completely new designed MG6, following 16 years without a new model being released in Britain.
